  • Quote For Service

I've just received a quote from a local garage for a full service and been quoted £253! It's my first service ever as my dad's always done it but unfortunately he can not anymore. Is the price reasonable? I expected around £80.

I was going to upload the quote but the file is too big, but they charge £90 for labour (apparently it takes 2 people), they're also charging for 'environmental fees/consumables' which I don't know what they would be.

    Thanks. Kieran.

Hourly labour cost should be around £50 for an independent (Citroen's is about double that). Environmental disposal is for old oil etc., consumables is new fluids, filters, etc.

£253 sounds a bit out. But £80 sounds more like an interim service not a full one. Maybe they do tracking and alignment too in that cost? The price will also increase as soon as they find anything worn too, like tyres, belts, spark plugs, brakes....

Try several places and find out what they'd charge for the same. Shopping around is the best way to get a good deal.

Thanks for replying. I am also looking around for the best price but I'm a bit cautious when it comes to using garages I've never used before. So what would you say would be an average price for a full service?

I am in kent & average price at non citroen garage is about 150 for interim & 260 for full that's why I take mine to citroen & use their fixed price offer & they use genuine citroen parts & do any updates to cars ecu with the latesrt software which is pretty good value & you have an official citroen stamp.

I think my local's somewhere in the low 200s, but never had that as I always had several other things needing fixing or replacing too!

Like Cat has already said, if your DS3 is over 3 years old you can have an originals or essentials service at a Citroën garage. Have a look at this link, it gives you an idea on costs etc. I had the full essentials service last time round. The only difference apparently is that the originals uses Citroën branded parts and the essentials uses Citroën approved parts.

I've never seen a service as cheap as £80 though.

I've had an £80 service on older cars, with a one man band garage... But I wouldn't exactly say that followed all the manufacturer's recommendations... lol

I've just had a full service (4 years) for £175 at my local Citroen... Only thing they didn't charge for was the air filter, as I have a k&n in.

I pay into a service plan, designed around the mileage I do and how often my services will come up. For me, it's a really affordable way of doing it. Everything in the service is covered. I can also take to different dealerships, which is great for me working 25 miles or so from home I can pick.

As funky suggested, maybe ask them about the Essentials package? They might be surprised to know that you are aware of it! It's not often you are offered the cheaper alternative first Then it's just up to you re the parts they use and which you would rather go for
