  • Scuffed Wheel

Hey all, so I’ve just scuffed my alloy wheel pretty bad being a bit careless. Going to look at getting it repaired, what sort of price should I expect to be paying? Luckily all the damage is on the silver edge of the alloy, so hopefully not too much!!

    Thanks!

You don't say what alloy it is, so I'm going to presume it's a 17" Bellone. As it's diamond cut, you can't take it to any old alloy repairer as it needs specialist equipment to fix. I got a couple of quotes a while back for a corroded and slightly scuffed Bellone and they wanted £120 and 3 days to do it. Ended up getting a brand new one for £155 instead.

As funky said, 100+ to repair diamond cutting. Cost me 30 quid each to get mine completely re-conditioned in all black.
      I've attached pics

Thanks for the replies, yeah they are the 17” bellones. So I’m probably looking at £100+? I wouldn’t mind getting another done either that has a little bit of damage from when I bought the car.

Those black recons look really nice!

Just a little update. Anyone know if The Wheel Specialists are any good? Been quoted £136.80 for 2.

Sounds reasonable, is that to repair the diamond cutting? If they're just coating/painting over I'd go elsewhere

Did you mention they are diamond cut (DC) alloys, as that price seems too good to be true (especially for 2). Had a quick look at their website and they don't mention anything about DC alloy repairs or refurbs.

That said if they can do them for that price for 2 and they do a top job, I'd defo be interested too.

Right you guys are probably right about the price, my quote was for a powder coated repair, and that particular company don’t do diamond cut repairs in my area. So back to square one.

I'm afraid companies that do diamond cutting are a bit like rocking horse poo.
Seen a company that'll do all 4 diamond cut for 300 quid or 80 a corner.

Ed: It is a random company online so I can't vouch for quality.

Where abouts are you based? The company that wrapped my roof and mirrors do diamond cut refurbs from £85 per wheel (they're based in Oxfordshire)

That's a decent price Kat. We could do with a place like that up in Lancashire.

I’m in Liverpool. £85 seems reasonable per wheel.

I was really busy today with work so haven’t looked around anymore. Would a powder coated refurb be no good?

Depends on how particular you are about how they look. Personally, I wouldn't be happy with that finish on a diamond cut alloy, but you might not be as picky as me.

Take a look at mine, that's the kind of result you'll get. You'd loose your diamond cutting and end up with 1 colour, maybe 2 if they offer that.

Ed: no downside though, just taste really.

I decided to ring the wheel specialists on the off chance they do diamond cutting in my area, as Liverpool wasn’t listed on the website, and they do!! They have quoted me £193 for the 2 alloys, so I have it now booked in for next Thursday.

Moonhead I really like your black alloys, they look great with the red DS3, just not so sure I’d want them on my blue one, I quite like the silver/black, for now
