How often should I do normal maintenance?

I'm talking about the usual type of service - oil and filters

some told me every 15,000 kilometres
And some told me every 30,000 kilometres

What engine, petrol or diesel?

I myself would do an oil change once a year if you don't hit the mileage or 12k miles.

The book says 20k miles on the petrol 1.6 except the Racing model.

I get my 1.6VTi serviced every 9000 miles (about every 11 months) because that's when the spanner icon pops up on my car. Despite having to fork out on all the fixes (suspension, steering, brakes, belts, plugs etc. etc.), the car runs perfectly.
