  • Potential DS3 buyer (own the DS4)

Hi everyone, hope you can help me make a decision.

I'm currently a happy owner of a DS4, had it 3 years and love it but I've also loved the look of the DS3 and as I'm looking to update to a newer car I was thinking should I try the DS3?

I currently have the 1.6 Diesel DS4 and am looking to go for the 1.6 diesel 100 or 120ps DS3, has anyone moved from the DS4 to the DS3 or vice versa and got any opinions or advice? I don't care about the smaller size, it's just me driving it 99% of the time so boot/rear space isn't that important.

    Cheers

all I can say, is £0 road tax, and 500 miles to the tank!

Hi Peter and welcome to the club and forum. Having never owned or been inside a DS4 (although they do like nice from the outside) I can't compare it accurately for you. I owned a Ford Focus TDCi before getting my DS3 eHDi and without doubt its a better car. Even both are diesel, my DS3 gets wayyyyy better mpg than the Focus ever did and I got the DSport spec and it's so responsive and fun to drive with plenty of ooomph when needed and plenty of toys to keep me happy. Like Chris_Blue says above, 500+ miles to a tank is what I have got on every fill up. Its a great car and loads of fun and they look and drive spot on, as long as you look after them.

Had both a petrol and now onto a diesel DS3 now. Just be warned with a brand new diesel, like myself, tax is £140 a year. Cheers govt.

That said, I've got the 120 (now remapped to 153) and it's a blast!

Yes I noticed the Tax increase, so looking for a 2016 with low mileage

Hi Peter...two months ago I just traded my 11 plate 1.6 hdi DS4... for a 16 plate 120 bhp hdi ds3 Prestige..., initially I test drove a 100bhp hdi with the 5 speed box, but didn't like it, the 120bhp model is much more refined to drive a bit like the ds4.
I think is a bit of a compromise between both cars the 3 is cheaper insurance and tax , easier to park and is better to drive,, whilst I think the 4 seems to be of better build quality overall,

I agree with everything you said but I think the build is just as good, a bit more solid than the DS4 and the DS3 seems to handle the bumps a little better, hopefully picking mine up on Thursday.

One thing that surprised me was the interior space, maybe its just excitement but the rear seating area looked just as spacious as the DS4, apart from the access.
