  • Very High Mileage DS3 Sport 1.6 HDi - good idea or perhaps not?

Hi All, been a while since I was on the DS3 forum. The DS3 Sport we had back in 2012-2014 was a great car apart from the water corroding the start/stop unit and since I am now in the market for a used car I have been looking at the DS3 again.

What I am unsure of is what would be considered too high a mileage for a 2011 DS3? The one I am looking at has over 150k on it but has a full Citroen service history.

On the one hand I'm thinking the engine might be fine but what about everything else? and then again if it's managed 150k with a full service history it can't be that bad? Any thoughts?

Usual questions really like any car, how much, how many owners and does it come with any proof that things have been replaced over time?

Hi and welcome back! 150K is alot, but if there are receipts proving what's been done and when and it matches what Citroën suggest should be done and as you say, a full Citroën service history, you could be OK. Is it a private sale or trade? I'm guessing it's not on sale at Citroën dealership, so no warranty? As it does have a full dealership service history, you might be able to get a decent extended warranty to cover any repairs too, but you would need to do some research on that and see if it's worth it. How many miles are you likely to be doing and how much is it up for?

Thanks for the replies. Thinking about it now it is probably just too high a mileage. Probably better to stick with something around the 100k miles mark. At that point any major service items will have been done. I will probably put another 30k on the car whilst I have it so if I bought a car with over 150k on the clock I would also be looking at a lot of expense in servicing. Oh and the guy wanted just under £2500 for it.
