  • DS3 Sidelights always on

Hi all im new here as of today and am enjoying looking at the posts on this forum as they are very informative and helpful, i have a question i have wanted a DS3 for a few years now and 2 weeks ago managed to pick up a 2012 plate ehdi d sport plus, i am over the moon with it and how nice it drives but i have one question are the sidelights meant to be on all the time? and i dont mean the day running leds as they are on also like they should be.
it doesn't matter if i have all the lights off on the steering stork or on auto they are always on. is this right or is something up?
hopefully one of you guys will know if it should be like that or not, thanks in advance

Shouldn't be like that , do drls go off when you put headlights on ? What bulbs in side light ordinary bulbs or as someone put leds in. Had some led ones which played up staying on for a little while after switching side lights off.

Hi neilljj and welcome. The sidelights shouldn't be on constantly with the DRL's, but they can be changed in the config using a Lexia tool. I have seen others change the light config, using Lexia, so the DRL's and the sidelights are on at the same time, as the sidelights aren't that bright. However, not in the same way you describe on yours. It went from DRL's only, DRL's, side and rears on and then headlights, sidelights and rears on with DRL's off, as usual.

Sounds like the previous owner has changed this config or had it changed for them. It can be changed back quite easily if you have Lexia, or you can ask a Citroën garage to do it for you, but be sat down when they tell you how much it is to access the ECU and click three times to change it back!!

yes i can imagine how much citroen would want, it doesnt bother me i just wanted to know if that was how it should be as when i see other ones driving around they either have the drl's on or then off when main lights are on.
i take it i'm ok driving it like this? it wont cause any issues? or breaking any laws?

Won't be breaking any laws, but the only issue I can see is that you will go through sidelight bulbs alot quicker!!

Must be Canbus error free, (Or they flicker and fail) and the number 55 rings a bell for an LED lamp. Any LEDs should fit as they are just a slot fitting, so buy the cheapest (Which is usually the one with the least LEDs-5) and try it. Then look to upgrade to more LEDs if you want. I have a half dozen spares knocking around

Saying all that, I think you will need it reprogrammed
