Hi All,
I hope you might be able to help.
I have a 4 year old DS3 that I have owned for 2 years 3 months. Last year I had an issue that I had to have repaired under extended warranty as it had just fallen out of the 3 year mark which was a problem with the fan sensor if I remember right causing it to cause the engine management system to go haywire. It was a job that would have cost me in excess of £600 but i got away with the excess on my extended warranty policy. Annoying for such a new car but there we go. I've also had some minor niggles with it that I've just paid for outright that wernt worth the bother of trying to argue or claim for.
Anyway, 2 weeks ago my passenger seat mechanism broke. After coming on here I discovered it is a known issue with the ds3s. I dont have kids and I can count on both hands the amount of times I have used the mechanism since I have owned the car since it's generally only me in it. I took it to my local dealership who confirmed it will be a full seat and frame replacement needed and they sent the details to the warranty department who have today come back with an offer of paying 60% as a "good will" gesture. This will leave me paying £360. I have tried to negotiate with them but their customer services were rude and not budging saying take it or leave it. I am raging. Especially considering the amount of issues I have already had.
Surely it is not reasonable that a 4 year old car should require a replacement seat and frame and therefore is not fit for purpose. Especially one where the mechanism itself is barely used. I have read somewhere that under EU regs manufacturers are held to 5 years for such things? Can anyone give me any guidance on how to proceed?
thanks so much
