  • DS3 1.6 THP - Timing Chain and Inlet Valves

    Hi all,

After having ‘Juddery’ problems when idol, I took my DS3 to Citroen to get diagnosed after the local mechanic couldn’t work out what was wrong. They have said I need the timing chain replaced and the inlet valves cleaned which would cost around £2500, which for a 2010 plate car is extremely pointless.

I know it is a failry common thing with them so was wondering if anyone knows of where the best place to take it would be. As close to the Berkshire area as possible ideally.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This, and/or new HPFP. Could wiggle and swap the injectors round, but when mine hesitated they did all this.

And, before you say its miles away, Jamie is the only person I know, that knows the DS3s inside out- and NOT with dealer prices which can be astronomical

    Any fault codes showing?

Good luck, and welcome to the Forum

      Thanks for the reply.

I did call them earlier in the week but I don’t think it’s going to be feasible. I’m not going to be able to get up there and leave my car for the day for a few months at the earliest due to work commitments. I wasn’t sure if there was anyone else that would do similar stuff but a bit closer.

Had the ‘superknock’ fault code come up

Well, Jamie is the best place for it.
If you ask a Citroen service dept to look at it, even a BMW place as the Mini is the same THP engine, it will cost along similar lines to what you've been quoted

        Your decision end of day
