  • Fuel problems

Hey. So I recently purchased a 1.2 pure tech ds3 (2016) auto and have noticed that it is using a lot of fuel. I'm getting an average of 35mpg doing both town and motorway driving. Its rarely getting above 40mpg. I'm going through a full tank of petrol in a week and its costing me a fortune to run. Is this normal for a 1.2 ds3 or could there be something at fault?

not normal. look into (Google) what average for your DS3 model is- but I bet its better than that

Could be oh so many reasons

It's supposed to be 62mpg. I know you will never get that but it should get somewhere close. The dealership said there is nothing wrong with it but I dont think they have looked into it properly.

start off with running a fuel system cleaner through, then (assume you've don it) check the service is up to date (Plugs, airfilter, oil and filter) check the ECU for fault codes, (Expect that's been done too) take to a tuning specialist ask what they think, check tyre pressure are good, put different fuel in-maybe good stuff, accurately check the MPG you are attaining, are you always full of weight?, check for fuel leaks, Lambda sensor (I gained 4 mpg by replacing mine on my Clio form 28 to 32- and that's good for my Clio 172) ) google for more...….

Okay thankyou. The service is up to date however I may get another one done to make sure the filters were changed. The dealership said there is no leaks but they dont seem to be very helpful at all. They sent it to citreon for a health check but came back with no faults. They also said the ECU is up to date. I just cant see how this normal for such a small engine

I agree- are you assessing the amount of fuel via the dash indicators?

Maybe you should assess fuel useage in a different way-there are some apps that do this altho ive never tried them "Fuelly" or something

35/40 mpg for a vehicle quoted as 62 is pretty grim. would expect at least 50 something. use some decent fuel for 6 tankfulls or so- they have cleaning additives and stuff, and they say it takes a vehicle ECU at least 6 tanks to get the benefit

I was getting almost 40mpg for a tuned 200bhp DS3 THP 155. I did drop down to mid 30's when putting my foot down

And my (Mixed journeys long and short) diesel 1.6 DS3 returns in the mid 50's at worst!

so your 1.2 should do much better
