  • Hello

    Hi all,

Im replacing my second car a Dc2 Integra type r which i owned for a very very very very very long time.

Im looking at something nippy, small, and which suits my very small commute to work.

Something different from the VWs, BMWs and Audis.

Ive seen a few DS3 sport versions ( petrol 156bhp) and to be honest i really like the way they look and the interior, plus unlike the Integra its got good seats in the back to ferry my children around.

The Integra gave me 16 years of trouble free motoring, so how reliable are the sporty DS3s from your own experience, especially those who had long term experience.

Secondly im 50 and a bloke, the guys at work aren't convinced its for my age group, but i suppose neither was the Integra but i could got away with calling it a classic.

    Look forward to your thoughts.

    Regards Major

    Hi

Ive had a THP 150, THP 155 and now a diesel edhi110 Dsports all of them, and loved all of them

Reliabilty- search this site. Its the RACING version that gets the most isssues

THPs seem OK to me, so long as they are looked after. But if they have done over 40k miles, things will just start wearing out. Simples.

Diesel- the DPF plays up but MPG is really good imo

THP's really need decarbonisation of the inlet valves after every 30k or so- known colloquially as a "Walnut blast"

Otherwise- Ive loved all 3- and as for age- I am in the same ball park as you- maybe higher ;-)

Ha ! Cheers Chris, sounds very promising now, yes i expect higher miles to equal wear and tear.

I assume direct injection is to blame for carbon build up but it doesn't sound too bad, just good fuel and a inlet valve clean up.

      Will test drive a few.

      Many thanks

You can get some good deals on older THP's but there were a few revisions to the original late 2009 THP 150's which had the most problems

I upgraded to the THP 155 when it came out- not sure of the date but think it was March 2012. A few tweeks but the main was the PCV sytem routing I believe

Yes- GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) is the cause of the carbon build up predominantly

V-Power or Momentum may well help, but my HPFP went at 20k miles, but it was remapped to 190 BHP for most those 20k miles. Fab remap BTW ;-)

Pistons aren't the strongest, but vast majority are good to just under 190BHP

Get a code reader to be able to read any fault codes- OBD Port just below glovebox

Great, fun, quick cars if looked after- look for hesitation when accelerating up a slight hill. Then avoid that one

Thank you again for some really great info, regarding walnut blasting ,Yup heard about it, my mates got a 335 turbo bmw, they require the same treatment. Its just one of those things.
