Ds3 1.6 hdi. 2016 gauge says it’s overheating!!

I’m having a problem with my 1.6 hdi, had the thermostat changed. Then lots of problems with airlocks. Definitely no airlocks now, but every so often the temperature shoots up on the gauge and if I take my foot off the accelerator and the gauge drops back to normal. I’ve been told it might be the head gasket. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance
