  • Go on, convince me!

    Hi guys,

I'm a self employed consultant undertaking trips along the motorways across the country who is looking for a new car.

My head is saying play it safe, get a VW Golf or a Focus perhaps but I'd like to have at least a little fun to while away the journey time. Owned many cars over the past 20 years but never a Citroen (same reason why most haven't I guess - build quality, reliability & brand perception) but for some reason I'm being drawn to the Citroen DS3 1.6 eHDi 110 DSport Airdream which I can get on a very favourable lease.

I'm battling against my preconceptions but this car looks fantastic to me and seems to get favourable reviews from just about everyone - should I just go for it ?

    Help!

All i can say is I come from a Vw / Toyota background and I find the DS3 very good and much better than the normal Citroen quality. A few rattles but lots of cars have them. I have the hdi 90 and it is great. So, as a bloke who also has had loads of cars, if you like it - get it! The diesel is rock solid.

i regularly partake in a 240 mile round trip with my HDi 90. i get about 57mpg which is handy, the ride is comfy even with 17" wheels.

I just let the cruise control take over and get a relaxing steady drive. Steering column audio controls for when you get bored of the sounds, i love taking it long distances.

You're leasing it. If the price is right, what have you got to lose?

I recently converted from a Ford, DS3 has a much better build quality and nice ride. You won't regret it one bit!

In terms of performance given that you have the hdi 90 - how do you find this in terms of mid range pickup on motorways etc?

I have the exact model youre thinking of , i do 25 - 30k miles per year regularly do 400 mile + journeys in one go get 60 mpg find it extremely comfortable and the performance is perfectly good for the job. Ive had BMW Ford etc this is now my second DS3 and still look forward to driving it. I too was dubious about Citroen but love it to bits.
I couldn't fix yer brakes so I made your horn louder!

I have the hdi 90 and I have absolutely no problems with pick up on motorways, I was doin 80 today and u can feel it pull when I put my foot down, she's cracking in the motorway. Oh that speed is hypothetical of cause lol

Diesel DS3 is brill much better pick up than fiesta. I have a fav roundabout followed by dual carriage way and love to power off the exit of the roundabout to leave the other cars standing. Always brings a smile to my face and I only have a 90.
