  • SOS Button?

Hi all, I'm picking up my DS3 Dsport Monday morning (white roof, white wheels and body in blue), does anyone know much about the SOS button. Like how to turn it off?. Just a bit worried if i leave my kids in the back of the car while jumping out at the petrol station and decide to press it!

Press and hold it for several seconds. Found out the other day when I accidently nudged it and it started dialling

There are 2 buttons below the stereo, one has the Citroen chevrons on it the other has the letters SOS this article gives a brief explanation. May only be fitted as standard on DSport & above, I'm sure Bigfeet will be along to give a fuller explanation

Does the vehicle have an integral audible call/receive system then, via the SOS system?
I thought it would only work with a phone hooked up

I heard in the USA they have systems where you have to identify yourself as the owner of the vehicle vocally, or it wont even start
And if it dont start an operative rings the vehicle to speak to the driver- unless someone was winding me up?

I treat the SOS button same as an ejector seat button- dont go anywhere near it!

Citroen call this setup e-Touch and is fitted as standard on the DSport models of DS3.

The SOS button needs to be pressed for about 2 seconds before it will make a call to the emergency services, if you press it by mistake then you need to hold the button down again for a further 8 seconds to cancel. I'm not sure at the moment is the system can be disabled via Dialogbox or not. The idea of the setup is that on board your DS3 is GSM GPS sender and in the event of an accident where the airbags deploy it will automatically call 999 and provide details on your location, airbag data and seat belts buckled. The e-Touch is subscription free and is provided for the lifetime of the car and works through Europe as well.

Again your dealer SHOULD have gone through with you about this as in the UK it is offence to make calls to 999 without reason.

My dealer never told me a thing about these buttons i found out about them by reading the handbook. I then went back to dealer to check how long they work for and are they free etc. The citreon one calls out the AA and same again if thats pressed by mistake just press it again.

Looks hideous the buttons are too large and situated the wrong place directly underneath the ster
eo....Citroen what were you thinking !!!.....put me off exchanging my older dsport....I was also told that false alarms could cost you £500 & the call center is in Sweden lol.

My understanding of it is that it contacts a Citroen call center who talk to you if you're conscious and then call the emergency services for you if required, if you are unconscious then they will call the emergency services straight away. Therefore accidently pressing the SOS button would make a nuisance call to 999.

It can be disabled via Lexia, but the button flashes orange after start up indicating a fault with the system.

At the moment the app is still in progress and at present I don't have any idea if it will even be available in the UK.
