  • Citoren DS3 2014 Power Steering Fault.

Hi All, hoping someone could help

I currently have a 2014 Citroen DS3. when i have checked the battery it is 10 years old. im currently doing a charge one this.

Just so everyone is aware my issue only happens in the winter never in the summer so was happening last year but this year it has gotten worse.

I have an issue where when its cold my power steering comes up faulty upon starting the car and it also says the ESP/ASR system faulty.

It used to be that i would start the car the faults would come up and after running the engine for 5mins i would turn off and restart the car and it would go away.
I had an issue on Monday where the car would not start RAC came out and got the car back up and running and told me to charge the battery for 24 hrs which is what i am doing.

I however one year ago had a new alternator fitted as my belt snapped after owning the car for one month. since the alternator has been replaced these issues started but they only happen when it is cold such as below 10 degrees C.

This is now taking 1hr for the fault to go away and I am unsure where to start.

I am trying to fix this before i have to pay out alot of money.

This sounds like a battery issue. When it's cold the battery performance is affected.

10 years is a very long time for a battery.

I would have the battery replaced and see of that affects the issue.

Does your car have start stop?

Bit of an update, did a 25hr charge put the battery back onto the car. Issue was still happening. Called out RAC who have said it’s the alternator that is the issue. They think it is faulty even though it is brand new. So back to the mechanics who fitted it to get it fixed. If it’s not that then I’m unsure what else it would be.

It'll be the 10 year old battery that's the issue.
