DS3 Cabriolet Seen In France

I'm not convinced that the compromises required in order to have a "fully retracting" roof are worth it, tbh. The size of the roof opening when fully open is hardly any greater than it is in the "horizontal" position, and you pay a big price in terms of rear visibility (not to mention looks - eurgh!) when the roof is fully retracted.
I wish they'd simply fitted a full-length roll-back fabric roof (a la 2CV) and left the rear window intact. Cheaper, lighter, stiffer. more robust, less leak-prone. But presumably they wouldn't then have been able to call it a "Cabrio", which the market seems to demand, so we get this instead.
Do like the hinge mechanism on the boot - an engineering triumph, that.Last edited by gar074; 01-09-2012, 12:10.

Never noticed the 3D lights before, they're stunning but still not enough to overshadow that butt ugly roof. I think it looks stupid in the fully down position. A glass panel opening roof (not the rear window) would've been better.
Found this description of the lights:
The rear also features a new three-dimensional LED light signature. The all-new 3D LED tail-light technology was inspired by the designs on Citroen’s Revolte and Survolt concept cars. The central part of the light is comprised of a rectangular set of 31 LEDs and semi-reflecting mirrors that reflect the light guide into infinity. The 3D unit illuminates at night when the headlamps are turned on and in daylight during braking. A 15-LED blade on the upper part of the light emphasises the 3D unit and acts as both side and stopping lights.
Is there any practical purpose to that chrome strip along the back?Last edited by THP; 07-09-2012, 12:37.May 2011 - October 2015: White body/black roof/white Bellone THP150

That flyscreen is a disaster - what a mess! Convertibles are supposed to look sleek & sexy with their tops off. This one looks like a chicken coop cobbled together in someone's garden shed.
The chrome strip on the boot is tacky, but presumably its purpose is to act as a handle to close the boot - otherwise the only way of gripping the boot is to hold it by the top edge, and the result will be some very painful trapped fingers.
Not at all impressed by this effort, tbh.

Sorry but this looks like a pile of crap - its not a true convertible so I don't really see the point. Agree about that wind deflector - that is going to get caked in flies and look pretty unsightly (more then it does already).
As for the boot........

My guess is that the fly screen will be able to be up or down, the C3 XTR had the same thing years ago. Speaking of C3 nice to see that the lovely brushed steel dash is making over to DS3.
Only thing that has me puzzled is that so far I've not seen if the upper hatch opens or not, if it doesn't then you are going to have an odd space left over....I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!

Definition of cabriolet
noun- 1a car with a roof that folds down.
This is actually a Decouvrable and follows the traditions set by the 2CV which also had a folding roof with the sides intact.
and that went on to be an all time classic and has spawned this for the future
Same roof design as per Citroen history so why change.
The boot has the same volume but agreed a lousy opening for anything useful but you can still put the seats down.
Now, if they only had removable picnic seats like the 2cv and garish stripey roof colours and a charleston edition.

That boot reminds of the lid on the Mark 1 VW cabby, letterbox style. Makes it hard to get your Golf bats or fashion purchases in!...I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!
