Hi guys, im still in the choice side of things between a THP or HDI dSport! Now my story is i do around 10miles a day mon-thursday and do 300miles over the weekend, adds up to around 10k a year! So obviously im thinking running cost there with the HDI and its free tax, BUT the speed and quick response on a THP draws me to it! I have to think of all aspects cause im 21 so insurance but, a THP isnt expensive to insure! Want to know what you guys think and also whats Diffrence from dsport and dstyle and also does the plus models only add arm rest and reversing sensors and auto lights/wipers? Im gonna buy the car new on finance or bank loan so please... Trll me what you think. Cheers

I find the 110 Hdi plenty quick enough and it pulls like a train without having to drop gears unless you're below 60 in 6th.
I have a DSport plus and it came with climate, cruise, bovine and shiny bits as well as what you've mentioned. Either way, you'll love it.....

Yeah i know the hdi is 0-60 in 8.3 and the thp is in 7secs so ok thp is quicker but what about after 60? Like 60-90 ? Is the torque on the hdi quicker than the thp? Yeah im thinking is the extra money for the plus worth it? I can do without sensor wipers and arm rest lol thanks for ur input!

TBH when I went for the test drive, they sent me out in the salesmans DS3r. I was expecting quick but was pretty disappointed, I felt like I was caning it to get it to go. On the same stretch of road, same rolling start, my Hdi was 10mph up on it and felt smoother. Maybe his car wasn't up to scratch or something. I haven't driven a THP so can't really comment, all I can say is that the diesel seems to get from 50 to 90 very smoothly and very rapidly. Best idea is to try both for yourself, we all have different driving styles and different expectations. Looking on here the THP seems capable of up to 50 mpg, my Hdi averaged 40 while running in, is doing 56 now it's got a few thousand miles on it which is mostly town driving. A recent 450 mile trip of mixed motorway, town and city driving netted 68mpg average. It's not often I think to myself that a manufacturer has hit the nail on the head, but I think Citroen have finally done just that. Have a browse through this excellent site and I'm sure you'll find glowing reports from both the petrol and diesel camps to help make up your mind, there's a lot of happy owners on here which is a rarity for a one model car forum..

Okay so Iv been thinking, the fact that the HDI does have more mpg but not a signifficant amount doesnt actully bother me, free tax would obviously be a bonus but £120 a year or so I can live with. Im thinking of going towards the 155sport thp but.. i know from 0-60 on pape its 1.3seconds quicks, but what about 60+, lets say 60-80? Which is quicker, anyone know? Cheers

Mate Have You Been Browsing The Forum ?
With The DSport HDi, You Can Spend £299 On A Remap ( Which Citroen WONT Find ) And You'll Be Leaving THP's Behind... That Coupled With The Increased MPG And £20/ Year Tax Makes It A No Brainer !
But What REALLY Seals The Deal Is The fact That No HDi's Blow Up Yet, Do A Little Search On the THP Problems And Then Come Back And Tell Me Your Still Interested To Buy lol
Not Having A Go At You But This Is A Thread That Has Popped Up Alot With People Asking "Which One ?", So For The Newbies Reading This It's Simply A Question Of Do You get The Cheaper To Run, More Fun Driving Car Or A Car That Has A High Percentage Chance Of Giving You Hassle, Grief And Trips Back And Forth To The Dealers For Months And Months...
Choose Wisely...

I'd go for the THP (obviously.. because I already did). I've done 12-13'000miles since June 2011 & had no problems at all with the car (touch wood, again)..
Test drove both the THP and the HDI, preferred the THP, always preferred petrol engines really, just seem more fun to drive
Also, if you're looking at going down the remap route as mentioned above, you can remap the THP too, and no HDI will keep up at all

Not sure if this is relevant but I think you did say you were going to get the car through a bank loan or finance so I "assume" you are buying the car as opposed to getting it on Elect 3 where your sort of renting it with an option to buy at the end of the agreement? The e-HDI...they all have the new engine now apart from unsold stock, will wear a lot less and be worth a lot more in two or three years time. Also ALL the e-HDI's now come into the no tax bracket and they are also exempt from the London congestion charge....if that is something which might apply to you. Yes you might lose a second here and there in terms of acceleration but unless your racing against someone...and I sincerely hope you are not even considering that on the public roads, then it really doesn't matter. Of course it's personal choice but I would go for the e-HDI.
