Servicing on Elect 3?

Hi,

Can anyone shed any light on servicing on the DS3? Mines due for its first and when I spoke to Citroen they said I HAD to get it done by them, but I damned if I can find anything in the T&C's that states that?

Anyone else had similar?

I got booked in without requesting it before the mileage and due date. Am also on Elect 3.

My theory is that it's a recall they don't want to publicise? Who knows, be interested to see what others think.

Errrrr... My theory is that you need a service and if they do it then they get the money for the consumables. I'm assuming you're talking about the free servicing deal which just means free labour?

Ive just got a new ds3 with a free 3 year service contract, so are you saying that i still have to pay for the oil/filters etc & its only the labour costs that are free???

As far as I'm aware you can get your car serviced at any vat registered garage. BUT as its on elect 3 and they have given you a guaranteed future price for the car it may effect this price when it comes to handback, or trade in, obviously if you choose to buy it makes no difference. I'm a mechanic but am still going to get it serviced by Citroen as it is on elect 3. Just to guarantee the future price alone. Plus I will only need one service in the 3 years so should only cost me a small amount for the 1 service. You have to to be very careful when your car is on pcp deals. Some manufacturers even state that it must have the same brand and make tyres on when returning the car!

The Service plan that is offered through Citroen only covers the cost of the service, it does not cover the cost of any replacement parts that may be required expect items replaced as part of the service such as oil - your dealer should have gone through this with you, there is information on this is on the Pre-pay Service contract that you would have got when you collected the car.

On a second note if the OP does not have a Service plan you are welcome to take the car to any VAT registered garage to have the service done, bear in mind that they MUST use genuine parts or your warranty may become void. Also any Citroen dealer will have the power of Veto on warranty issues if they feel that the car has not been correctly done when serviced. Another point to note as well is that not having the correct stamps in your service book will affect the residual value of your car - would you buy a Rolls Royce is it had only been serviced by Kwik Fit?

My advice is to take the car to your dealer, it should only cost a little bit more but it will save you a load of possible trouble.
