  • THP155 and THP150

    Anyone know the differences between these two engine model names?

    On the surface they seem to be the same engine with the same power and torque outputs only different CO2 outputs.

    Is the THP155 just the Euro 5 emission tuned version of the THP150? Is the last 5 for Euro 5? 150 and 155 BHP seem less likely.

    Anyone in the know here?

    They are both Euro 5 also and the both have 156 hp. Only visible difference is the better CO2 in the 155. They may have changed parts internal for better reliability? At least I hope they did.

      How would internal parts for reliability change the CO2 though? You could remap for a more economical tune with the same max power I expect or change the gear ratios, wheels or tyres.
      All I can see is the economy ratings and CO2 emiisons changed from

      THP 150 Fuel consumption 9.4/5.1/6.7 l/100km urban/extra-urban/combined Carbon dioxide emissions 155 g/km

      to

      THP 155 Fuel consumption 8.2/4.7/6.0 l/100km urban/extra-urban/combined Carbon dioxide emissions 139 g/km

      Must be more than just an economy remap? Anyone know more?

        never said any internal parts changes were for better emissions. Although they could be, example parts for less friction, coatings on pistions and cylinder heads that make for better heat disipation. All of which will make an engine more efficiant. Would say any gains were do to softwear changes though. The PVC system was changed a little allowing the vapours to be fed into each intake track instead of at one place in the manifold. That was almost certainly done for reliability. Will it work???

          There were a couple of changes that happened due to info rapids on the 150 engine, also I understand there was a slight change in BSI software but the main reason why the emissions are different is down to the tyres.

              Well lower rolling resistance from the tyres would make sense as the gains are small as you would expect from a change in tyres. Just wonder why they would bother to change the engine name to THP150 over that though?
