  • DS3 service and allloys

my lovely ds3 dsport hdi110 is in for a service this morning dropped off at 8am have mentioned the corroding bellones to them they said we take pictures of them and send to citroen, so they are aware of the problem thats affecting most of us by now. I'll keep you posted on how the service has gone just waiting for a call and see what they say about the alloys!

Tyres are feathered! Keep an eye on them they said, don't wanna sound thick but what does a feathered tyre look like!and brake discs are heavily lipped but pads only 20 percent worn don't make sense to me are the discs doing all the work! Alloys are another story waiting on citroens response to the photos !, watch this space!

It means your front tyres are wearing unevenly. This is due to your wheel alignment being out

Unless your discs are worn down to the minimum thickness no need to worry.Don't forget they could be the original discs but have had new pads fitted at some time.

I've had the car from new was factory ordered so the discs and pads are originals had a look at the tyres myself they look as good as new no wear at all across the tread think someone was trying to get some cash outta me as I'd got free servicing with car they were trying to get something on the day!

I have had the similar thing done to me at a Peugeot garage here in Lancashire. They tried to tell me the disc had worn below there safe limit and while I was sat there I heard them say the same thing to a customer on the phone. When I said I didn't want the work done they tried the hard sell on safety.I used a micrometer at work to measure the thickness and they were well within spec. What they don't realize is your trust of that garage has completely gone now.Trust in a garage to only do jobs that need doing is everything without that trust you can't use them.

Citroen does have guide lines in place in regards to wear on brakes and discs, can't think of me what they are just now!

At the end of the day a dealer will only replace parts at your written request so if your happy then leave it.

I always ask for the old parts back, amazingly more than once things they say need replacement turn out to be ok after all.

Took my Ds3 to Citroen this morning & told them about all 4 bellones corroding also brakes have far to much rust on so pictures where taken and sent & i'm told i'll hear something within 5 days. Lets just hope i'm lucky enough to get a new set and not a refurb,

Put a touch of clear nail varnish on the corroding area ??

Just had my car in for it's first service today at BCC Bury and mentioned the corrosion on the alloys - pictures taken and sent to Citroen so I'll wait and see.

On the service side of things very pleased with BCC and how they dealt with me
