I had a similar problem. Citroen took it and ran it overnight. Turned out the water pump was leaking and has now been replaced. Get them to check that.

Wouldn't a leaking or failing water pump produce a puddle of water?

You would think. Maybe hairline fracture that opens up enough under heat / pressure to slowly leak?
