  • I thought Insurance was supposed to have gone up?!

I'm amazed, I just switched insurers to Allianz (I switch insurers most years, I know it's generally the way to get the best deal) - and my DSport Plus 150THP cost a massive £234 for the year and that's based on 15,000 miles includes business cover and no voluntary excess, with just £120 compulsory, protected NCB, etc, etc.

Ummm, am I getting old or too careful? Time for a bigger mid-life crisis car I think!

Ah well, that's the cheapest I've ever paid for insurance!

    Regards,
    Clive.

Mine was £183.20 with Admiral, that's the result of no accidents or convictions for 45 years, I was in three wheelers before the car and two wheels (Lambretta) before that.

Just had my renewal notice for my THP - just over £200 with Hastings, incl pnc. About £30 cheaper than last year. 9 years ncb and clean licence helps.

Insured my Barchetta a few weeks ago - got fully comp with the AA for only £144, which amazed me, as it was £100 cheaper than the best quote last time round - and that includes free AA breakdown cover! Mileage is limited to 5k pa, which is more than I usually do in it anyway.

I assume that they're increasingly targeting crumblies like me at the expense of younger/higher risk drivers. It'll be interesting to see what happens to the relative costs of motor insurance of male & female drivers when the prohibition on sex discrimination in insurance comes into force.

Premiums for females will no doubt increase to match the premiums for males, therefore insurance companies will make more money.

I'm paying £325 with Quote Me Happy but that includes 7% interest for installments. Also my wife is a named driver. I do have 9 years no claims, was on motorbikes before that, still got the bike of course
This is all for the Dsport Plus e-HDi 110. It's not much cheaper if I took my wife off so I don't know what keeps my insurance around this level. It was also £325 on the C4. Tried all the comparison sites. Also in a low category job so it's not that pushing it up. Maybe it's the area but this is a really low crime part of Hertfordshire. Ah well, at least it's a lot cheaper than some of you young chaps have to pay.

Don't forget guys to mention to your insurance company if you have rear park sensors, when I did it took £25 off my quote!

Sometimes it's cheaper with a wife/partner on there as named driver- they reckon blokes in stable relationships are statistically less of a risk than the unattached.

Mind you, my wife's record (both claims & points) is much worse than mine, so nowadays I leave her off altogether, as it's much cheaper that way (and I get to drive!).

On the flip side, if you've got a careful parent as a driver this helps massively.

I have my mother on my policy as a named driver and me as the policy holder. She drives the car once in a blue moon, usually just when I'm too pissed to drive xD It dropped my quotes by a couple £100 each time!
