  • Mk5 Ibiza Cupra to DS3 DSport THP 150?

Thinking about getting DS3, but im wondering what sort of mgp will i be getting from the 150? TopGear mag says 42.2 but not sure if thats real world or not? Wonder if some1 could help me out with this please.

Also what is the engine like, speed, acceleration and response? I got a 180 Cupra so don't want their to be too much difference tbh.

I understand that the ride is quite smooth and quite as well?

THP Remapped gives me an average of around 35MPG on super. At a push I can make 40. Heavy driving has seen it drop as low as 22 in the past O.O.

No complaints about ride, the back can get quite skittish at high speeds.

Why not take one for a test drive and find out if you like it or not?

      Hi and Welcome,

My 150 THP gets 35-38 mpg, occasionally top 40 on long runs but I do a lot of local or up to 15 mile journeys. That's 'real' average over 16,000 miles (i.e. calculated outside of the every so slightly 'generous' trip computer which likes to pretend I got more mpg!).

I drove a Leon FR170 TD which I loved (hard ride mind you) and had previously had several Audis. I love the drive of the DS3 and I think for the money it's a great fun little car. If you go for the new THP it's actually 155, whilst it doesn't improve the 0-60, it does improve the mpg, with a reported combined of about 47.....

I'm also tempted to consider the Airdream diesel too when I decide to change (which is on a whim for me typically!), I followed a member on here who collected it new from the garage and I was impressed with the performance - ok my THP could have zipped up to it, but it was by no means sluggish to follow.

      Regards,
      Clive.

Buy a THP and Map it - It'll be faster than your Cupra

Highest i have had on the trip computer in my THP was 58.7 :-) but you do have to do proper eco driving for that, normally i get about 32-35 but thats cos i only do very short 3 mile round trips to work etc. on long runs can easily get 50mpg without thinking about it.

Mine's averaged just over 40 mpg over 25k miles, but I do a lot of long-distance commuting, relatively few short trips, and hardly any city driving.

The ride's MUCH better than an Ibiza - I know cos I used to have one! Gearbox didn't feel so good at first (longer travel) but once you get used to it, it's fine.

I've had 2 ds3s now and love them admittedly both 110 diesels but ride is superior to the Seat (i've spent good driving time in the seats)handling is excellent, I'm now considering going to thp next as want the extra performance.

I am getting around 32 to 34 but I drive quite aggressively and like to listen to my exhaust as it rev's up. When I drive more "normal" get 38ish mpg and if I try even better. Stock the engine is quite acceptable but remapped it is a little firecracker. Steering feel isn't that great but stock the car is very comfortable for being sporting. An aftermarket suspension can tighten up the handling even more but then you can start to degrade that nice ride. I also find the gear changes long but you do get use to it and it doesn't bother me anymore.

203bhp and 235lb torque and if I do steady runs on motorways instead of driving like a lunatic I can get 44mpg combined

Cheers for the replys. Getting similar MPG to what i get. Gona have to seriously think about any change if i do it.

I like the fact the ds3 come with bluetooth as standard and the better stereo, i'd go for the leather seats as well.. I want a more comfy car as well tbh and the ds3 seems to be just that.

I'll go down the dealers at weekend and see if i can teat drive one.

You want comfy then the DSports plus is the badger Bearing in mind I use mine as a mobile office and spend ALOT fo time in it I can definitely say it's comfy especially with the leather seats the plus comes with.
