7 day driveway insurance

Hey, Im due to take delivery of my new ds3 dstyle+ on sunday, it was meant to be sooner but when I rang the company to arrange the drive away insurance and quoted the dealer reference I spent 20 minutes going from department to department only to get told 'Sorry Sir you're actually to young to insure, you have to be 21 but we can give you annual quote of just £5,400'. Just £5,400!! That means in 3 years I would of paid in insurance roughly what the car costs new and I got quoted £1,200 from Admiral.

I don't think its that uncommon for someone under 21 to get a new car so why can't they sort this or why didn't the dealer tell me in the first place! :mad::mad::mad:

I was in the same position as you. I bought the car when I was 21 only to be told I wasn't insurable through the underwriters Citroen use.

Citroen then wouldn't let me drive the car away until I had insurance in place obviously. So I stumped up £2k and covered the car with somebody else only to be told by the dealer my car wouldn't be ready for another week -_-

Things get better with age, it's just one of those things

Thats a bit of a pisser. 1st off get it insured with your Mam or Dad as named driver for now with you as nominated driver (or whatever you call it), ring around and ring around some more to make sure you get the best price. Once you've found one it'll all be sorted within 24 hours.

The dealer most likely didn't know as the only info we get is the leaflet that you would have got.
