  • Type of DS3

I am looking into the possibility of getting a DS3 and was wondering what the best option for me to go for. I do around 6k a year so was probably thinking that a diesel wouldn't work out cost wise with the amount of mileage I do. I currently own a cooper s so was looling for something a bit more economical (insurance, fuel, tax etc). Was thinking about the 120bhp model. Also what kind of extras/options to look out for when buying a used DS3? Thanks...

Wouldn't that just have similar running costs to now, trying to save money.

120 VTi is boring, the THP will have lower tax, lower insurance and higher MPG than your Cooper S

Tax is £120 for 12 months. I usually get 38-45mpg depending on the journey and how "spirited" I drive.

The THP should be a lower insurance group than the Cooper S too (assuming you have the petrol version).

Tax for my THP is £170 per annum
You can get round 44mpg with a mix of town and motorway driving (Motorway 70mph average)
Just town driving and MPG figures arent good

Yeah should have said, mine is the the THP 155 with lower CO2 emissions, putting it in the slightly lower tax bracket. 139 g/km rather than the THP 150 at 155 g/km (Chris').

In all honesty though- If running costs are paramount to you- get the smallest petrol one you can get
Not my job to sell you a particular model- just suggest to you that if you want to move quicker than a cat thats just had its dinner when you press the pedal, the bigger the engine the better.
Why not hire one for a week and see how you get on?

Each to their own- The DS3 has several models so that everyone can take their choice
Thats the beauty of the DS3- and then colour schemes galore
I'm sure the 1.2Vti will get a lot of punters- Citroen wouldnt be doing it otherwise
And if thats what people want- then good for them
Just cos u n me want something feisty doesnt mean everyone does
