  • my woe is still not over...

yet another problem has surfaced my (less than) beloved THP. It has now developed a lovely oil leak had to get my car recovered to the Citroen garage last night. The recovery man had an initial look and said that the oil sumo was damaged and that it was likely driver error leading me to be distraught at the thought of having to spend hundreds of pounds on getting it fixed. he then had another look when my car was on his truck and assured me that actually it was more likely a manufacturer error as he was now able to see there was no other damage on the underneath of the car.

has anyone else had any issues with cars leaking oil? I saw there was a thread about this but there was no resolution to it that I could see.

the professional opinion of the breakdown assistance man was that either, when they were fiddling about with my car before, they have threaded the bolt that keeps it in place or the seal is knackered - my car is 18 months old so how likely is this?

    Thanks,

    Jess

I would be careful of taking the breakdown assistants word as law he obviously has not been able to get the car up on a ramp and remove the offending bolt (I'm assuming sump plug) so don't go into Citroen all guns blazing lol. It is possible for the bolt to have been cross threaded or the washer to be damaged. I've not worked on a DS3 so am only guessing but if the sump plug is on the bottom of the sump then its also possible to damage it on a stupid speed hump.

Keep us up to date and hope you get it sorted cheaply

I got my car back from Citroen yesterday after being told that the problem was sorted. They had to replace a seal near the timing belt and tighten some bolt. they drove the car back to me without any problems but when I got in the car the same error came up about topping up the oil level. the mechanic filled the oil up to the maximum level so have had to take it back again this morning for them to look at again.

I wouldn't normally lay into them but I keep having issues with the dealer as they say they have fixed my car when actually they haven't. will see what the outcome of their looking at it today is.
