  • DS3 Diesel Problem

Has anyone else had the problem with the engine management light coming on during rapid acceleration on the 1.6 EHDI 90. Citreon are telling me because its cold its waxing up on the fuel filter and for a new one its chargeable. This car is only 10months old. Before I go ape at Citreon UK wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar issue.

Sounds very much like diesel waxing I'm afraid where the grade of diesel is not suitable for winter conditions. The petrol stations should have switched over by now but the supermarkets are the most guilty of not doing so.

Add some diesel additive to help thin the fuel and it should hopefully ease the problem a bit otherwise the filter will need changing.

Diesel waxing? Is that a bit like leg waxing?

Its is leg waxing, but with diesel.

Very painful if you use the wrong grade of diesel.

Its just so annoying that Citreon want to charge £110 for the pleasure of doing it. Which will probably most likely happen again, looking online it does seem to affect Citreons more than any other make

Not so, any diesel with is using a FAP or DPFS will be affected by this and bear in mind that PSA is a big supplier of diesels.

Ford, Peugeot, Citroen, BMW, Mitsubishi, Range Rover, Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo,FIAT, Suzuki all use the PSA engine

Citreon UK now want me to take my car back to the dealer for fuel samples. Dealer even tried to charge me £48 diagnostic charge when I refused to pay for the new filter.

If the fuel is waxing in the car then this is not a Warranty issue and therefore the dealer is well with their right to charge for the diagnostic time and replacement filter.

I had this issue early December my car was only 8 weeks old with 1800 on the clock, I paid £100 for a new fuel filter, driving into work into work this morning I am getting the same problem. Just about to contact my dealer again but not going to happy if I need to have it replaced again.
