Hi everyone,

Im currently car pooling with someone who owns a Cooper S 184hp (I think it's 184 and petrol)
now my question, are there any chances that my DS3 would be possible to keep up with it?
mines a 90 but chipped and has 302 torque in comparisation with the Cooper that has about 240 NM
But on the other hand it sprints to 60mph in 7.3 I think and mines does it in about 8.5-9

yes but maybe we would do a rolling start so I can take advantage of that in third gear, it's very long
going from about 85 km/h - 135 km/h

Nm is the unit for torque and stands for Newton Metres.

Imagine you have a torque wrench and torque your wheel bolt up to the usual 130Nm. The DS3 VTi 95 has 135Nm of torque at 4000rpm. These values are quite similar right?

The Bhp output is a measure of energy output. Think of how quickly you could turn that wheel bolt at 130Nm. The engine can turn it at 4000rpm, you can't

Another way of thinking about it... Two cars with the same torque could climb up the same hill. The one with the higher bhp would climb the hill quicker.

So which is better? They go hand in hand i'd say. I'm sure you could google many arguments about it and no doubt my explanation will have flaws but that's as good as I can give in laymans terms :P

Without getting technical at all, no. You wouldn't keep up. You ,might have a slight edge from the start but after that you'd be staring at his back end.
