  • And so it continues :)

Ok so as some of you may have heard the cars gone bang again. After leaving the ferry on Sunday night the car went into limp mode , engine management lights , max of 50mph and after turning the engine off the cooling fans would keep running so I have to disconnect the battery to stop them. Upon much arguing I managed to get it into Citroen Coventry on Monday afternoon to be looked at Tuesday. Had a phone call at 5.30 this evening to be told that because I have put boost pipes on the car and put in a aftermarket panel filter that the warranty is void and they wont touch it. BUT if I put the standard bits back on they will look at it but cant guarantee they will do it under warranty because they know bits have been changed. Despite the fact these wont have caused the problem because ive had the same problem before a year earlier. All it is , is the dealership trying to get out of it because I cost them money last time and kicked up a stink. I read the fault codes before they had it incase they tried to blag there was nothing wrong.

Codes I have are P1385 & P2336 which I know are Knock sensor 4 circuit and Cylinder #1 above Knock threshold. My next step will be arguing with the dealer that the minor mods haven't caused the issue and trying to convince them to get it done.

Any advice on next steps or what to do next much appreciated especially you Citroen techs that are on here.

    Many thanks
    Matt

Matt I wouldn't even bother arguing with those bastards, just put the original bits back on and take it to another dealer.

Keywords are Block Exemption Rules, which are EU competition laws.
They can't refuse warranty due to modifications, unless the mods directly caused the problem.

Dude that sucks. 10 May would be a looooong time to be driving around in limp mode.

Unfortunately the hard part is persuading them that you're right. The onus is very much on them to prove that the mods caused the problems, not the other way round.

Would not mess about make time and put standard parts on and go to another dealer. If you have use a breakdown service to get it there. I can understand dealers if there are non standard OEM parts even if they don't cause the fault they probably feel why should they help, rightky or wrongly. Just shows if there is a problem during warranty period make sure there are no modifications.

I really hope you can get it sorted and you will soon be bombing down he road again

Why did you leave the after market mods on it you should have removed them before it went to the dealers.... Don't quote me but if you mod your car in anyway and it goes tits up in anyway the dealer will just walk away ..If i was you start reading you warranty small print and then be prepared to be F##KED by Citroen

Unfortunately for me but fortunate for some of you im of the mind of handing the car back and walking away, its still their Car so it'll be there problem. And ill get something more reliable as i cant trust my DS anymore. Will update this thread if Any resolution is found otherwise normandy may have been my last meet .

Is it a lease then? You would have thought petrol engines would be more reliable after all these years.
