  • 3 Cyclinder and Diesel Cabrio Hinted

Just watched this and near the end a representative from Citroen mentions a 3 cylinder option and a diesel cabrio.

I would be up for a diesel cabrio, I am liking them more and more although I would have to buy a van for all my carting stuff around.

As for a 3 cylinder the 1.0 litre 3 banger in my old 107/C1 barely got me up to motorway speeds and that car is really very light.

No idea how they will make it work except for a massive turbo and a much bigger displacement.

I was at my dealers earlier this week and they were surprised that Citroen hadn't announced a diesel Cabrio yet. The 3 cylinder doesn't interest me at all

Autoexpress test drove a diesel cabrio in Ireland. So Citroen have produced one but is not available in the UK just yet

As we've said according to CUK figures there was no demand for the diesel version in the UK. However, if demand was forthcoming then they may consider having one made. Europe has had the diesel since the Cabrio range went on sale.

The 3 cylinder engine has been on since Jan this year, 1.2 VTi 82hp.

Why so? A decent 3 cylinder engine will rev brilliantly, and make a great sound too.

Can't see the attraction of a diesel cabrio, unless you want your ears to be assailed by the infernal rattling.

Maybe there might be demand for a cabrio with better economy than a petrol?
Or maybe because emissions are lower on the diesel it migh be appealing to company car owners?

Is the design they use quieter than a normal convertible? I find it hard to see the appeal of it myself as I think a full convertible is nicer but I can seethe appeal of being able to close the roof at the speeds you can. Getting stuck in a storm with the roof down is never fun

Just wanted to say I picked my 3 cylinder 1.2 VTi yesterday (standard car, not cabrio) and she sounds and drives great :-) I reckon the engine note would sound good in a cabrio with the top down.
