  • Climate control and mpg

I was wondering how much of an impact using climate control has on the mpg of a dsport plus e-hdi 115?
I assume it has some effect but given we currently are having a heat wave I was just curious.

I also believe you should use the aircon now and again anyway but if it is negligible I might just leave it on and having the window open might effect mpg anyway?

Only ever had normal aircon before so climate control will be a nice step up

Use it like it is meant to be. That is set the temp and forget it's there.

The difference in cost is so small that just leave it on (unless you end up like me and Matt outside Paris running on fumes and need every sip of fuel!)

I am not totally sure if the dsport has stop/start but if it does keeping climate control on would disable it, is that right?

yes the cc stays on with engine off but the engine is likely to fire up again "randomly" more often if the cc is pn. as to having stop start depends on age mine does bought jan 2012 the second hand ones i looked at diddnt based on ehdi diddnt even look at thp's

Take it your on your phone. Because that's a bit difficult to read without punctuation

What he meant to say is that the Climate Control still continues to function even when the Car is in 'stop' mode unless the demands being made by the Climate Control (such as front dis-misting) are draining the booster battery too much, in which case the car will come back out of 'stop' mode.

I was pleasantly surprised when my 110/115 eHDI went into start/stop mode as I had read it wasnt enabled on the sport, as for the first cpl of days the eco light just flashed. best way to tell if the A/C makes a difference is put cruise control, or steady foot, on the motorway and see your instant mpg changes when you turn it off

I did wonder if they added stop/start as a way to get the MPG under 100 for the diesel as that is the cut off for the cheapest BIK tax I think

                      Hi Icewolf,

Think you meant below 100 g/CO2 output, whatever the unit of measure is, (to get below the road tax threshold).

                      Generally,

To be honest what you might gain from having AC off isn't worth it - probably makes a fiver difference in a year, I waste that just going for a blast in my DS3 for the hell of it, and quite regularly!

                      Regards,
                      Clive.

The tax is based on the CO2 emissions I think rather than the cars mpg

Sorry Clive didn't reply quick enough !

That's what's meant. Got it totally wrong though
                          Thanks for the correction

Road tax is one thing and maybe BIK is just an added bonus

Nice to know air con is so minor, will use it without concern then

The Stop & Start system is just an added bonus, it doesn't effect the CO2 emissions at all.

The system is more a reflection of the 'green' nature that motor companies like to portray.
