  • New owner (finally)

    Hi all

Would just like to introduce myself, after finally becoming the proud owner of a DS3!!

Prior to the DS3, I owned a (excuse the language) 2007 MINI Cooper S turbo. I first test drove a DS3 Dsport back in 2011, but have really wanted one since around October 2012.

After having every common fault associated the MINI's turbo engine, timing chain, clutch/flywheel I finally decided it was time to move on. I soon realised that a lot of the problem's I had with the turbo engine, a lot of THP owners were experiencing too.

I could not justify buying an earlier THP engine, on the grounds that I didn't want the same problems as before. I have a friend with a brand new Dsport plus THP and she has had no problems as of late, but I didn't want to risk it with an older one that suited my budget.

Instead I found a one owner low mileage 2010 Dstyle 120 VTi, with Dsport seats, upgraded stereo with bluetooth, black Bellone alloys etc. I sometimes miss the turbo power and sixth gear... but I prefer having a car that is so far reliable, nippy and hopefully wont give me as much as a headache as my previous car! At first I wasn't sure about the White on Yellow colour combination, but it has definately grown on me and all the yellow DS3s in my area have black roofs.

Bellone wheels are to be replaced by Citroen free of charge as a gesture of goodwill, due to the corrosion. Bought the car from a non-Citroen dealer, went into my local Citroen (Stoneacre Wrexham) after noticing the corrosion around the centre caps, Citroen UK offered four brand new wheels at no cost! Even though the car is just out of it's three year warranty, which I was very happy about!!

Mods so far = replacing the gloss black dash for the mock carbon one
Near future planned mods = Dsport spoiler, twin tailpipes

    Anyway, here is my car:

      Welcome!

Nice!! Car looks awesome - good work looking up the info on the THP's - its a worry I am going to avoid when I part ex WTF in for a dun dun duhhhh, diesel Dsport. Just don't want the worry of the THP - regardless of reg/age and miles

      I have the 120, 57k miles in!!

Don't get me wrong, I love the sound/performance/capability of the THP, just my reasoning for switching cars was because of my never-ending problems in the Mini. My VTi is only on 17k! Have you had any problems with yours? Anything I should keep an eye on?

I'm off to the dealers Monday, she has a slight oil leak - will report back and let you guys know what they say.

She's worked hard though, 57k miles in 3 years and me as an owner

The feeling won't wear off btw

I might upgrade in the future am I right in thinking the THP 155 no longer has the problems that the 150 had?

Very nice! Like the Yellow DS3's. I have the DStyle+ 120 VTi - no real issues (except a niggle with 5th gear that was sorted)
Result with the new wheels from Citroen too! Welcome and enjoy.

Never seen a 'traditional' THP problem on the 155. And I looked for 12 month before I bought one

But then I never had a problem with a June 11 plate 150

To be safe, and knew that I would modify in the future, upgraded to a 155. Just visual mods at the moment
