  • THP 155 engine reliability generally

    Hi everyone.

I am new to this website today, and I am awaiting delivery of a Citroen DS3 DSport Plus
THP 155 16V (petrol) at the end of Sept 2013.

After reading some general discussions recently around the engine reliability of the THP 155 I wanted to ask:

Is this engine well constructed and are problems that people have had that i have read
about generally very rare or is it more common?

I really like the look of the DS3 and decided to downsize from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta
Veloce I currently drive, especially because the DS3 DSport THP 155 16V engine model is
faster than the Giulietta Veloce in 0 to 62 times as published by Citroen.

    Welcome

Backup will be along soon, always quite a fun topic Waiting for the 155's to get some more miles on them so we are convinced the 150 issue has been resolved I think......

But the THP in the title is the bait for opinions to come over

Hi Glen- welcome to the club
Nice explanation of which model you have (Under your Avatar) LOL
There been one individual on here currently, that has a problem that may be linked to the problems of past 155s, and has yet to be fully diagnosed
Other than that, haven't seen any problems detailed on here, with the 155 engine since it was launched

But several will follow with doom and gloom stories- so get yer tin hat on LOL

        Welcome to the club

I've had my THP155 for 12 months, driven for 11000 (mostly spirited) miles and so far had no issues. Just had its 1st service and had no problems to raise with Citroen.

As far as I'm aware, the issues with the older THP150 aren't as widespread with the 155. I'm sure others will be along to share their experiences but so far mine has been nothing but great.

Nice colour choice btw. Post some pics when it arrives

Ok thanks for the reply. I thought the problems that I have read about may have related to the older THP 150 engine and not to the 155.
When the new car is delivered I will take some photos and attempt to post to tis site.

            Cheers

            Glenn S.

We love DS3's here so you'll always find help and advice no matter what happens. As Chris said above there has only been one potential issue with a THP155 so far and all the others you'll read about appear to be in respect of the older THP150.

As WTF said hopefully in a few more months/a year everyone will be more confident that the issues that affect the older engine (in Mini's as well) are done and dusted

Thanks Ifcrule1972 for your reply to my post.

I am reassured now and I look forward to my new car delivery.

Overall with the sucess of the DS3 nationally there must be generally some very favourable experiences with their car owners for this car to be so successful.

                    Glenn.
