  • DS3 DStyle Plus under 12k new on drive the deal, plus free insurance or 0% / low APR

Just had a mailer from drivethedeal.com with some great offers on a new DS3, including 0% finance, 6.9% on Elect or 9.9% on Elect with free insurance for over 21yr olds. Citroen are offering a discount of £2100 if you are a non Citroen owner on a Plus model.

Not going to help residuals, but cracking price for a new DS3.

(I have no affiliation with them, other than I bought my DS3 through DTD).

If only someone would offer similar deals on a 208 for my wife!

It's deals like this that kill the car, quick check on the latest figures reveal that a DS3 DStyle+ HDi registered in June this year is only worth £10,500 with 1,000 miles on the clock as a part exchange...

As a nation, I think we all want the best price on buying the car and part exing it at the other end. I dread to think what the part ex is on my 1.6VTI DStyle Plus, but cars is business and I believe the back end money dealers get from manufacturers for hitting targets can far outweigh margins on cars.

Some of what you say is true but in order to offer those kind of deals the lions share of that money is gone and the dealer would end up with around £200/300 pounds. I've seen some dealers sell new cars for £100 profit... But that's not the point I was making.

The crime is the de-valuing of the basic price of the car, Citroen doesn't give a stuffed monkey if the network decimates the used values just as long as the dealers are selling cars which is very short sighted. Yes you get a new car that is cheap but the goal post have been moved about and what you end up with is a still a cheap car at the other end.

I have gone over this ground so many times now that the grass is bare, I don't object to people wanting the best deal but I wish people wouldn't bend my ear when I have to tell them that their used car is nearly worthless because of their actions.
