  • Gear stick too hot

Still loving my DSport, really is the nicest car I have ever had

But ine slight issue and I was thinking saying my knob is burning me might not fully explain it... Ahem

So it's hot at the moment and so the car interior gets hot which I understand however the gear knob is getting stupidly hot and is burning my hand. It takes over 20 mins of driving with climate control blasting away to become almost bearable

So... Anyone else have this problem and have any suggestions on ways to improve it?

    Thanking you

It was 37 degrees twice in the past week but I managed to keep my knob workable by hand, not really sure what you could do to cool yours down, I guess a lot will depend on how your leave it ?

Is your knob out in the open and in the suns gaze all day ? In which case some covering might stop the unpleasant heat when you wish to handle your knob.

You could try going to see the doctor?

I have the same problem. Too hot to touch.
I am going to leave a bit of tissue over the knob to see if it will stop the heat.
I suppose covering it would be the best thing to do...

Try rolling a latex rubber sheaf over your knob to protect it

Joni used to make knob warmers, they would double as knob protectors.

            I've still got mine!!!

I guess I deserve the innuendo

It is parked in a park and ride type carpark. No shade unfortunately.
I guess it's worst as its not in the path of the cooler vents but wondered if anyone had found a clever solution

I've noticed mine has been warm in this weather, even if parked it the shade, but not enough to burn. Your knob must be in direct sunlight to get hot enough to burn you.

My suggestion for the car, as in life, stay safe and keep your knob covered.

Yep but the black and white chequered knitted cover stretches over it very well.
Keeps me warm in winter and cool in the summer.

and the wool doesn't itch when it's on your knob, specifically when your hand is on your knob a lot ?

Nope - it's flexible too. Things expand with heat and this expands with the knob!

You could always get someone else to handle your knob instead of you doing all the manual work?

Best suggestion yet, if you can persuade a friend to take it in turns to hold your knob when its hot that might negate the need for some form of lubrication to cool it down ?
