Make sure the mp3 files are not nested in too many folders deep. Also only certain sampling rates are supported.

Have you tried with another USB stick?

Might be worth a try with just a few songs on.

              So really pointless answers:
              Is your stereo turned on?
Is the input source set to USB (you might of hit the button on the stick thus changing the input source to say AUX).

Page 293 of the DS3 user's handbook says:
"The audio system will only play files with the extension '.mp3' with a sampling rate of 22.05kHz or 44.1KHz. No other type of file (.wma, .mp4, .m3u...) can be played."

For files on a memory stick (page 294 of the DS3 handbook) it says:
"The file formats supported are .mp3 (mpeg1 layer 3 only), .wma (standard 9 only, 128kbits/sec compression), .wav and .ogg."

I have tried another cable to check the one I had wasn't faulty and still didn't work.....It worked fine for a while and I was out one day turned it down a minute and it's never worked since...that's why I have pushed everything hoping that I had pushed something by mistake but still nothing

What are you plugging into the USB port, a mobile via a USB lead or a memory stick? If you are using a lead some only allow charging of a phone as they only have two wires, no data wire in them.

Have you tried another device in the USB port such as a Flash Disk?

First thing to work out is if the USB port is working correctly, I take it the rest of the radio is working as it should?

As above maybe try resetting the head unit, pop the bonnet, disconnect the battery negative lead for 30 secs and then reconnect. See if the makes any difference, don't worry you don't need a radio code on the factory fitted head units
