  • New DS3: Question

    Hi,

Having just bought a DS3 I am new to this forum so if this post is in the wrong place I apologise.
I have been having a few minor irritations with it which are probably due to settings I am unaware of, this is the first car I've driven that is newer than 2007 so quite a lot of the settings are unfamiliar to me.

1stly the rear view mirror at dawn/dusk seems to turn all the lights of the cars/bikes behind into a dull green colour, which is slightly distracting/off putting.
2ndly when the front windows steams up it only clears by turning the A/C on, which is a big drain on fuel, when I turn on the Auto heating the air con goes on too - no matter what temp the setting is on prior to pressing auto.
Lastly a lot of cars seem to flash me when I'm driving with Auto lights on in the dark, so much so that I have been switching to the manual lights, also if I am driving with Auto lights on on a dark country road the lights of the on coming traffic are very bright.

I have googled some of these issues with no avail so I have come on here. Has anyone else experienced this or can anyone advise me on these things?

    Your at the right place.

Is your car new or 2nd hand?
I can't really advise on the 2nd and 3rd question, but for the 1st question it sounds like you have an anti glare screen on the rear view mirror to stop the headlights of the vehicle behind you dazzling your view.

One of the Citroen sales guys will be on here shortly that can advise you better on the other questions.

      Right let's see...

1.) This is sounds like you have the Electrochromatic rear view mirror and this behavior is normal. There is nothing you can do about it.
2.) Check to make sure you don't have the air circulator left on - one number cause of steaming windows!
3.) Auto light and manual lights are both the same thing so I can't see why you would be having an issue. Maybe your headlights aim is off, worth getting it checked out at an MOT station.

Its secondhand but only 2012 reg, only got it a month ago and it was serviced before I got it so all should be ok. Might go round to the garage to double check the headlight alignment.
I shall have a look re the air circulator when I finish work later on to double check but I'm pretty sure it's not on.
        Thanks.

The air-con won't make a massive dent in your fuel consumption, especially if you only use it briefly to clear the screen, I have my climate control on all the time in Dsport and get around 38mpg so far.

Re the headlights, would it be worth checking the..... Setting.....thing on the left side of the steering column?

Good thought but the adjuster only moves the beam down from its normal setting of (0) This is where it should be set when the lights are mechanically adjusted. When you load up the boot with stuff the back of your car will sag down. This causes your lights to shine higher into other drivers eyes. This is where that adjuster comes into play allowing you to aim the lights lower back onto the road where they belong. When you unload the car set it back to (0) or the lights will be aimed to low.

It is possible that someone adjusted the lights with this set at (3) so when it was put back to (0) the aim is now high. As Biggie said get the aim checked out and that should solve you headlight problem.

I am positive that this is the correct interpretation of the flashing incidents.
