USB Connection

Hi guys.

I've been using my Bluetooth to connect to my phone to play music in my car, no problems, but there is only a certain amount of songs I can play in my car from my phone so I bought a USB stick today to connect to my car.
I bought a SanDisk Cruzer Edge 16GB stick and was told by the bloke in currys that it will connect to my car.
I've put about 20 songs on the USB stick and have just been to try it out.
I popped it in the USB slot and straight away the timer came up on the display then the radio came back on with an error message saying "USB peripheral error"? Tried again and again but still no luck.
I know the USB connection works coz my friend connected her iPod to the car today and it worked fine! Do I need to buy a certain USB stick for the car?

Can anyone help please?

I use the same USB stick in our DS3 and have about 27 Albums on it an have never had any trouble with it, have you tried the stick in anything else to see if its faulty ?

I've read through that link. Think it maybe that the USB has two files on it that it came with that I need to delete coz the car doesn't support them? I'll keep trying. It will work coz loads of people on here have the same USB as me!

No worries, I think the key info to remember is:

The USB needs to be in FAT32 (standard format) and the size doesn't really matter, the file format must either be MP3 or WMA in order for the system to understand the files. If you have other types of files on the stick the system will just ignore them. Another thing to point out is KPS quality, for the car your best bet is to either go with 96k or 128k. There is no point in going higher as in the car you will not hear the difference and it just takes up space on your stick.

Check to make sure that the USB stick doesn't have a partition already on it which includes some sort of protection. I got caught out with this one before.

These little memory sticks often have that don't they Biggie ? I always delete all files before I start using them

After 30 mins of trying something, going to the car, trying, failing, trying something else, going to the car, trying, failing, lol. I finally figured out where I was going wrong. All my songs on the USB were mpeg files. I converted them through iTunes to mp3 and the USB worked in my car!!! Success!!!
