Any ideas if getting the Pilot Sports 3s in 215 width, rather than 205 width matters much for the DS3?
Should be better grip IMO, but then again higher chance of aquaplaning?

I would have thought going down to a 40 series would be more benefit less side wall flex ...............would 215 fit the rim without bulging ?

The Pilot Sport3 in a 17in fitment and 215 width has an aspect ratio of 45 and are specified for a rim with of 7" to 8". Will fit just fine on the bellone rims without bulging or stretching. They do not do a 215/40/17 in this model tire. Chris keeping the same rim diameter you will actually have a larger tire sidewall with the 215's only 0.2 in so should not notice any difference there. Will have better traction from the lager contact area along with a slight decrease in gas milage. Will not really notice much of a difference with aquaplaning from a 205 width.

That sounds good Cyclone. Yes- I am looking at 215 45 17s Pilot sport 3s
They are not for the Bellones which have my winter tyres on, and are on the DS3 at the moment
They are for my TSW Taruma's which have just had carbon fibre effect hydrophacked and seen in my album, for shows and track
They are 25 offset, same as Bellones and 17inch rim 7j so assume to 215s should fit

Have to make my mind up and pay by Saturday for new sets of:

                    Choice of only:
                    Michelin Pilot Sports 3s 215/ 45/ 17
                    or
                    Michelin Pilot Sport 3s 205/ 40/17

The 215s for a set of four are £30 cheaper than the 205s. The 215 may have more grip being wider, but may aquaplane more
The 205s will be slightly lower profile and look a tadge better, but the speedo will be out as much as 8mph

                    What do i choose?
                    Your advice will be considered...honest

Ed- to go on 7j rims

Nangkangs were fine that I had- althought didn't push them in the wet, and they were new so loadsa tread
Wouldn't want to push them in a corner, in the wet, think theyd just give and not stop
Fine for an everyday tyre IMO

They should be fine with normal use. Just when in the dry, you accelerate and can feel the tyres grip, or even slightly squeal a bit, if it was in the wet with Nangkangs I wouldn't try it (Push it) and just drive normal, rather than accelerate.

A good, cheap standard tyre. Not much good in the snow and ice.....but what are other than specialist stuff
You get what you pay for, but the Nangkangs are the best of the budgets IMO. Have had a few others too- some terrible.

I was looking on blackcircles just for some Michelin Super Sports, however when looking through the Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 have the best overall rating at C for fuel economy and A for breaking distance, am I missing something here at £85 a corner?
