  • Factory Orders - Did you get an email?

    Hey guys,

The dealer said Citroen would email me once my car reached the UK, never heard of a manufacturer doing this before... I think the dealer just wanted me to stop pestering him for an update! To be fair I've only asked twice .

So anyway my question - Did you get an email from Citroen with any sort of update? My car was built on the third so I would assume it has made its way over the channel by now or am I being optimistic?

I think this is hit and miss with some people getting an e-mail and others not. I would keep pestering the dealer. That's part of their job to answer questions.

That's roughly the same email I got about 3 weeks ago. Mine is supposed to be here about Jan 23

I didn't get an email, as I hadn't given the dealer my email address, but I got a letter.

I heard the dealers substitute their made up for the purpose email address so that they can provide positive feedback pretending to be the customer! Any comments Biggie?

And no I didn't get one

Doing that with only piss your dealer off.... *tut tut Cycles*

Please bear in mind that your dealer has no power when it comes to the delivery of your new car and that until the car arrives there is nothing they can do to speed things up. Just be patience

Also it takes on average about 18 days for an order to arrive at the dealership from factory exit.

Very true, your responses on the email survey effect payments made to the dealership, I tend to find the dealers offering silly deals tend to be the biggest culprits.

If Citroen is daft enough to use 'sticks' rather then 'carrots' then this behavior will continue...

I pay the Dealer soo at this point in my mind he is the interface between me and Citroen. I would say call your dealer and if they do not know ask them to call back when they do. Granted that may be right when they receive the car from Citroen. BUT other than a very few they can not be trusted to do that. In my case they didn't even do that the car just showed up at the front door one day with no notice from Citroen or the dealer. Did not bother me as I was in Saudi at the time but that is still wrong. I am the customer laying down my hard earned money and if a dealer is not even willing to try and answer a question that I have about purchase worth thousands of pounds then what good are they. It just shows a 1st step in a failed customer service process that one can expect to be mirrored by the after sales service also.

^ Understand your point there, but if the dealer was serious about his customers then he would be advising correctly for lead times and updating you first about delivery rather then you having to phone in all the time. It's all down to expectation really and handling the customer correctly that leads to great service (in my mind anyway!).

The biggest problem for the likes of me is that the systems Citroen use don't offer up the best information and it puts many off from trying, me on the other hand can find out even the name of the boat carrying your motor!

                        Thanks guys,

So at 18 days that would put my delivery at the dealer around Christmas/New year. Blah! That's an awkward period to collect the car, if it arrives, as the dealer will probably closed etc.

What to do is check with your dealer and confirm what days they will be closed, the other thing is once the car hits the UK they should be able to track it's progress similar to a parcel. That may help with pinpointing the best handover day.

                            Good news!

The car apparently is in the UK (confirmed by dealer, no email) and should arrive with them around 31/12. So hopefully I will be scooting around in the car soon!

You did give them your email no?

If not then you should receive a written letter from CUK instead.
