  • ANOTHER fuel consumpsion debate

hi all i have a 2011 black and white edition ds3 with hdi 90 engine and 5 speed gearbox .
I read on here what others are getting to the gallon, mines no where near any of them urban round town driving changing gear when symbol comes on in rev-counter im only getting around the 42 mpg and on long motorway trips around 60 mpg . Even though im pleased with what im getting it still seems to be very low compared to what anyone else seems to get . Any thoughts suggestions???:confused::confused:

I could just about touch 41MPG in my DSport so would have expected you to be getting far more.

Have you worked this out yourself or are you simply using the gauge on the dash?

Gauge on dash will have to do a manual check next time I fuel up

When accelerating it's better to shift a bit later then the indicator tells you and use the torque that's available. The indicator shows the suggested gear for a certain speed, but it means that you should select this gear when the speed is maintained, not while accelerating. I think that might make a difference, because the engine will work much smoother under acceleration. (You don't have to start redlining of course..)

How did you do that Beefy ? Was it via the site ?

I'm currently averaging 57mpg after some nice motorway journeys lifted the average. I've been doing a lot of round town journeys these past couple of weeks

Go to Fuelly, click your vehicle on the left, then on bottom right "VIEW ALL BADGES AND STUFF YOU CAN SHARE", on this page are various links, I used the smaller one.

It also depends how you drive. Do you have a heavy foot? Do you accelerate hard all the time and drive at fast speeds? I've noticed my MPG shoot up when I drive 50-60 in comparison to driving 80 on the motorway.

no thats running to the speed limits and only pressing the pedal enoughth to make it shift no heavy foot lol . if i accelerate hard in every gear it drops even more

Only noticed this morning that if you have miles to empty up on main dash screen and miles to empty in dial next to speedo there is around 5 miles difference in how many miles is left to go in tank .
im now wondering if that's got something to do with the reason my fuel consumption is recording low ??? !!!

That seems odd. Most difference I've seen between them on mine is 1 mile.

Yeah I know does seem strange , going to reset them both again before I go over to Birmingham to see what happens again it's the first time I had ever put up the miles to empty in place of trip/mileage will speak to citroen in morning see what they say
