New Tax disc...

Afternoon all...

May seem like a really obvious question, but I've google'd and haven't managed to find an answer as yet...

My car tax is due up this month, and I haven't as yet managed to update the registered keeper address...
Anyhow, that's another issue...

The main quesiton was - As my car sits in Band A meaning I pay a big fat £0 for 12months tax, will the DVLA automatically send out a new tax disc, or have I still got to go through the hassel of requesting one?

I think you still need to request one. You might have to go into the post office or call the DVLA to get one if your cars registered address is wrong though.

You need to go through the same process as everyone else except paying. This is so they can check you are insured and have an MOT if appropriate.

Feared as much... Will have to use the local Post Office then me thinks... Why they can't just check all the details online at the point of issuing the reminder though?!

Because I doubt the DVLA system would update quickly enough to ensure the disc was posted to the correct address Also I'm sure you need the code from the letter they issue to be able to obtain your tax disc online

Did you know they are doing away with tax disc I think it's this year as in paper disc in the screen.

I think they have already scrapped the disks? We have been briefed on the new system so it may be live

Edit: checked and its october. Its the new sorn that is active now.

You could keep it with a work car park pass in it ? Or a DS3 logo etc ?

Or street parking ticket- cant park anywhere in Brighton without paying at least £2- even 20mins :-(
