  • Anyone tried premium/performance fuel?

Has anyone tried the premium fuel available at Shell, Tesco, BP and others? They are more expensive but supposed to last longer and make sports cars driver faster. I tried the fuel at Shell twice so far.. It's hard to tell if there is a difference. My father has owned a DB9 and DBS and the dealer recommended that for both of these cars he should use premium unleaded RON 95. So it leaves me wondering whether it does actually work or if it is a marketing scam.

    Check the threads below.

Some notice a difference, others don't. Theory says that a higher Octane value is better but these days knowing the way the fuel industry is it's probably all just lighter fluid xD

I only use BP ultimate now, after just using normal unleaded I can tell a difference in performance in my THP and the engine seemed to run smoother as well

I use Shell V-Power Nitro+. Not noticed a difference because I've never used anything else. The minimal extra cost is worth it in my opinion, even if it's just for my own peace of mind.

BP Ultimate petrol- cleanest fuel there is (If you believe the blurb) which is handy for the THP engine

After discussing this on the forum with Chris_Blue I've been using the Shell VPower Nitro+ Diesel fuel, not sure I could fully quantify the differences but it does appear to make the diesel DS3 drive a bit better. There is no difference in mpg between the premium and standard fuels in my experience

I use an additive on every fill "Dipetane" really have found it has made a difference especially to economy (no premium fuels available over
                here at the pump)

Didn't switch back after you 6 tank fulls then? And you used to wax lyrical about supermarket fuels too- you must like the premium stuff

Don't get me wrong I'm not sure these fuels are worth the extra pennies every fill (well£'s really) but as my monthly miles have gone down now with the new job I'm less bothered about it

No, as above, I've not needed to as I've cut my number of fill ups so happy to keep using the Nitro+ for now.....

Tried 6 tanks of V-Power on my last one. Seemed a bit more throaty on it. Had been recommended by an engine Tuner (No- not you Jamie lol)
"All the guys at Santa Pod use it" was the quote. Better for perfromance
Preferred the cleaning claims by BP meself- but each to their own.
