  • Help!

After two years of trouble free motoring my ds3 has developed an issue.

It's a diesel d-style on an 11plate and lately seems to have a misfire when trying to maintain a steady speed.

It's not all the time and it feels fine when accelerating or decelerating.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like dodgy fuel to me (although I'm no expert).

If it's only 2 years old, get it booked in at the dealer for a check up.

I only use fuel from an esso garage so it's good fuel.

I've owned the car for two years but it's over 3 years old so no warranty.

Just wondered if it was a common problem before I get stung by the garage.

How recently was the car serviced?

Have you checked anything so far such as glowplugs?

It was serviced about 6k ago. It has no plugs though as it's diesel but everything else looks ok,no oil leaks plenty of fluids etc

Without getting somebody to look at it we're going to be clutching at straws trying to work out the cause unfortunately

How many miles have you put on it?

About 40k. I just wanted to check it wasn't a well known issue before I get it looked at.

When you said a sort of misfire are we talking about a bang from the engine or a stall in speed?

It just sort of stutters but as soon as you accelerate a bit more it's fine.

It could be your diesel particulate filter as if they dont go on long run or as our ford dealers told us that we need to drive our s-max like we stole it for couple of hours at least a couple of times a week as the sut builds up in the filter as it sounds exactly like my parents S-Max
