Mine are stuck on with sticky pads no problem. I replaced the pads about 6 months ago but only because the dealer had put my plate on slightly wonky originally and I'd only just got round to it.

Probably because number plate theft is growing and it's harder and takes a bit longer to remove a plate which is screwed on than stuck on.
I would agree - the plates on my Peugeot 206 were held on with sticky pads, and after they were stolen for the second time I drilled holes in them to screw them on!
So you think i should secure new plates with screws when i get them or sticky pads? Number plate theft isnt big thing over here i dont think, well ive never heard off anyone getting plates stole

You could get removable plate holders
IE the holder is screwed to the bodywork, and with the aid of a key you can whip out the plate to change them for show plates
We had a Clio with stick-on plates and the front one fell off twice. Ended up screwing them on. My DS3's are screwed on. Our other car, an Octavia, also had them screwed on and then the dealer replaced them with GB plates which were stuck on completely wonky with about 5000 sticky pads! So I'm a bit on the fence really!
I put on new personalised plates on the car. The dealers ones were stuck on and made with a very light aluminium. The new ones were plastic/acrylic and 3 times as heavy. The only product that worked to keep them stuck on was a roll of Halfords Heavy Duty Velcro retailing at £9. I've used it many other places around the garage and house as well.

Mine are held on with these, on my previous Astra they were stuck on and whilst the back never moved the front ones seemed to unstick due to the bow shape in the front bumper.
