  • DS3: Best Supermini 2014 JD Power

DS3 has won in the small car category for a second year running!

    http://www.whatcar.com/awards/jdpowe...gory/small-car

I do find it bizarre that people complain about passenger space in a small car (I frankly think it's pretty good), but I'd agree on the points relating to storage and rattles.

    Good news for Citroen, anyway!

I find storage terrible in the DS3. I have a tiny plastic tub in the glove box with 'essentials' like money/change, iphone charger, hand sanitizer, note pad, pen, etc and literally could not fit even a piece of paper in there now. Compared to other small cars it's pretty appalling.

Complaint number 2 is the heating whistles if you put it on 4 or 5 and it's LOUD. Citroen said it's to do with the air coming in from outside and the position of the vents or something like that. But surely that should have come up whilst they were designing and they would have changed it?

Other than that, I love the DS3 itself and will replace mine with another DS when I'm getting a new one

The glovebox is tiny because they didn't bother to move the fuse box when converting to right hand drive, they don't have that problem in Europe because they drive on the wrong side of the road.

I've not had the problem with the heater because I usually leave it on auto. Might be worth investigating which models have the digital air con when you're looking for your next one

Agreed, especially after I fitted this:

Really impressed with it so far for the money.

I need one of those. Currently have a box that isn't as compartmentalised.

The survey was apparently conducted by reference to cars registered between January 2011 and December 2012.
Why does that make the DS3 the best car in 2014?
(Although we all know it is, of course!)

Ah another reason why I am proud to own a DS3. To be honest I don't have a problem with the lack of storage space as I try to keep my car as clutter free as possible. But maybe that's because I haven't had it long, I'll probably change my mind in a few months...

I only recently realised there was usable space inside the drivers armrest !

^ Luckily the dealer showed me that on the test drive, otherwise I might've been the same Don't forget the little cubby hole at the right of the dash under the steering wheel.... All the space counts lol

It's because the survey is all about how people rate their cars after owning them for upto 36 months. I guess they feel if you bought the car after December 2012 you wouldn't have owned it long enough to be able to provide the data they're looking for.

I'll be eligible to take part in the next survey, I should probably try and find out how I can be a part of it.

Gosh, I abandoned this thread after starting it! Totally agree with you on the storage space. I went to a certain drive-thru last night and was mortified to find that they didn't give me one of their cardboard cup holders (I really need to invest in a Citroen one). Things like this are basic and what people expect. My old Toyota Aygo had three cup holders in total; for the most part, storage is okay for daily travel, but for any bottles or anything like that, it's appalling, and Citroen need to improve on this area immensely with the next model.
