  • Air Bag Seat Belt Fault, on dash LCD screen on start up.

    Hi,

My DS3 has developed a problem.

On start up, the centre dash LCD screen pops up with a Fault, Seat Belts and Air Bags.

Ive taken it to 3 garage, and Citroen, they clear the fault, and it returns. The air bag and seat belt has been changed twice under warranty, yet it keeps happening. The Vehicle is now out of warranty, and they want to replace the bag and belt seat belt tension-er again, but at a huge cost, and they cant guarentee it will fix the fault..

Is there any way to stop the vehicle doing a diagnosis check on start up??

    Or

Any other ideas to stop this message been displayed... Its really starting to annoy myself and my partner.

    Thanks

Not heard of this before. Does it stay on?

I know the lights come on and them turn off, the manual says:
    1. With the ignition on, the orange and red warning lamps come on.
    2.
With the engine running, these warning lamps should switch off.

I would have thought that as the problem has been looked at during your warranty it should still be covered even though your warranty has now run out, especially as it has not been fixed but Biggie could probably answer that

Not sure if it's the same ds3's but c2's do have similar problems. Look underneath the seat and you will see a wiring harness that connects the seatbelt pressure pad and the airbags in the seat, give this a pull and have a fiddle and see if this is the problem. When the seat is being moved back and forward the wire can become loose and faulty. Let me know how you get on.

It's a new one on me too, I'd definitely try the advice above ^ next and then go back to the dealer that did the warranty work and get them to look at it again as it's still the same issue (not fixed). Good luck

You don't mean the passenger airbag light that comes on at start-up and stays on for about a minute do you ?

              Hi

I had this fault - A message comes up in the display screen saying 'your seat belt pre-tensioners or your air bags are faulty'.

It would happen intermittently, ie only sometimes and not everytime I drove. The warning lights by the speedo would stay on while driving.

It was fixed when the car was serviced for the 1st time about a month ago, and hasn't happened since (fingers crossed).

I think it was mentioned that it was a connector problem - maybe the one to the key in the glove compartment?

I wondered that too Zack then saw the t11omf refers to the screen in the centre of the dash

This sounds to me as a connector problem, but because the car is out of warranty then there is no grantee that Citroen would do this even as goodwill.

IF the first garage has been unsuccessful then you would be best to try another dealer (fresh eyes) and take it from there. You will need to get this sorted as your car is now an instant MOT fail.

Is it a case of either B or C being illuminated ?

I'd prefer a clear display if possible ?

C stays on for a minute or so after the engine is started. Bear in mind that if B is illuminated your passenger airbag is switched off.
