  • DS3 Racing - No problems?

Ok so all these posts about DS3 R's and their horrendous problems during ownership is really scaring me.

I thought i'd purchased a right little pocket rocket here. My DS3R's original warranty ends in september, however i will most definitely purchase the extended before then.

Now what i really want to know is - is there anyone on this forum with a DS3R that has had no major issues? If so, how many miles has the car and how many years have you had the car?

Lets get some positives going on these little cars..

    Thanks,

For me personally, I had problems within 3 weeks. I have a new engine and have almost finished forging it and upgrading all the bolt on parts, I guess you could say...I do love the car however very prone to engine failure.

I'd definitely take out more or extended warranty in your situation. You never know, you could never face any issues with your car...

I've only had mine for 6 weeks and 2500km, but it's an ex-dealer-demo with now just above 20.000km on the clock, no problems so far.
And it's the most enjoyable daily driver I've owned so far.
I did do a short trackday test, about 20 laps, and it has huge potential on the track compared to my old DS3 Dsport (190hk/290nm) and Polo GTI before it :-)

--- Yeah mines done a similar mileage to yours and i've no mechanical faults yet. I love it as a daily car, its got a nice amount of torque so you can just squeeze the throttle and ride out the surge.

Keep me informed as to how your ownership goes as it seems these Racing DS3's are prone to mechanical faults.

Had my racing 2 and a half years now, just about to tick over 37,000 miles and the engine is still good I've had the odd stutter but other than that it's been fine.

My major problem is that I've had 3 punctures in 1 year and the tyres aren't cheap! Also on that note I wouldn't recommend Pirelli's as i've replaced the old Bridgestones with them and I can feel a noticeable drop in grip.

I actually got the first DS3r sold in the U.K. and the only problems I've had were an ignition coil dying, which they did a recall for and I had one of the Parking Sensors give up the ghost. Other than that it's fine, the odd vibration/buzz in the cabin has settled down and I'm happy. BUT I have two cars and so don't do huge mileage.

(Edit) Since I mentioned it elsewhere I should say I don't like the long first gear.

Talking of Engines, it's lived entirely on 97 RON Esso, although I doubt it matters (well, the Super Unleaded vs Premium bit will, as will give it a bit more power). Also now I've written my other post (about the new recall)... on a handful of occasions I've has slight dips in power delivery when accelerating hard, but they were super rare and I can't remember the last one (was a while back). I always let it warm up before using it hard so it wasn't that. Who knows, maybe Tuesday's ECU software update will fix that too.

--- Thanks, its nice to know not all DS3R's are suffering, mine seems tip top at the moment. Only thing to mention is i've heard a strange clicking once or twice under full load acceleration.

Tuesdays software update? Care to spill the beans?

I had a recall notice, see my post:

No idea how many people it will affect, as mine's the oldest one around other than the odd press demonstrator.
