  • DS3 Racing - oil type

Hi guys, i've checked the owners manual and the service history of the car but i cannot find the type of oil that the DS3 Racing uses.. What type of oil and what grade?

Also do i NEED to change the oil filter with a top of oil? It says so in the handbook but i am just low on oil and need to top it up thats all..

    Could someone advise?

    Thanks

You only really need to change the oil filter when you change the oil. Not when you top it up. When they service your car they will change both the oil and filter as a matter of course.

I change my oil (and filter obviously) every 5000 miles, as do many others.

For the same reasons I eat healthily and train every day.

If you can give me a single valid reason NOT to change my oil at those intervals il eat the socks I'm wearing.

When you change your oil, which colour do the old oil have? And how is your driving-style?
Because even the THP270 have 10000 miles cycles. So if you not drive your DS3 every day at the limit (Track etc.) you don't need a oil change every 5000 miles.

Anybody who drives 10000 miles on a track at the limit without changing their oil knows nothing about engineering and/or lubrication.
                Not a valid reason.

At 10000 miles it was black, at 5000 miles it was less black.

                  Driving-Style?
And my Oil is brownish black when it's changed after 10000 miles.

My driving style is normal, why would that make a difference when you have already said you consider it ok to drive 10000 miles flat out around a track without changing the oil.

I think I don't write that it is ok to drive 10000 miles flat out

What's the very worst that could happen if I change my oil and filter at 5000 miles, I waste £40. What's the very best that could happen, I prolong the life of my engine.

Very cool...I had a Airfix model as a boy and with so many opening/movable parts I wanted to play with it like a toy! I could only dream what it was really like as a full sized aircraft.
