  • DS3 Racing Dead

So another one bites the dust guys! Except in the worst case possible!

The racing has come up with 2 'top up engine oil' notifications in the past month even though i've filled it up with a litre of oil both times.
Took it into citroen today - apparently the cars not under warranty anymore.
It needs a de-coke? Cylinder head removed, new turbo coolant pump and if all else fails a new engine!

Total worst case cost - £8700.

Obviously i can't pay that. So i might be paying for a car i cannot drive!

    Might move country.

    Well that sucks.

Is the car running rough? Have you taken to another garage to get another opinion? Not doubting what has been listed already - just good sometimes to get it things confirmed or see what else is said!

Bet a huge chunk of the 8700 is labour. Liam's top mount rebuild was about 3/4k I think?

Jamie will have some good advice as will some THP heads

My 155 THP went into limp mode on the way home today. It's always sounded terrible and has been in and out of the garage. Only put maybe 500 miles on it since i got it a 3-4 months ago. I think my camshaft sensor needs replacing. Not an expensive fix but I've had enough! Mines not under warranty either anymore. Will probably loose £2000 or so selling it but at least I'll have some more traveling for my traveling fund!

Oh wow that's not good news Garrattj - I seem to recall you saying last summer that you'd be getting the extended warranty, was that not possible or was it too bloody expensive ?

Have you been in touch with Citroen UK to see if they'll be interested in helping with the costs for repair ?

          Guys,

So i need to find a citroen specialist to get a second opinion. The car runs absolutely perfect. No issues what so ever.

However the 'top up engine oil' warning has come up twice in the past month or two. My exhausts are also black as hell, like a badly run diesel car. Those two things together make me think it's burning through oil to much.

The fault codes that came up were to do with sticking inlet valves and miss-fires.

I will pop back down to citroen tomorrow and get a copy of the fault codes and post them.

Can anyone recommend a citroen specialist, or even a DS3 specialist? I'll literally drive anywhere.

          Thanks guys,

Try Jamie at SP Tuning. He knows about DS3's. Highly trusted and only place a lot of the guys will go for a remap. Also did work on his own THP. So he knows the engine.

He's a trader on the site so can pm him. But easily found externally with a Google search.

Thankyou! I'll get hold of Jamie at some point, maybe tomorrow and see what he says. It's a 2 hour journey for me if i go to see him though.

I'd be surprised if the Racing didn't need a walnut blast clean as a minimum, Jamie can do that

Sound like it needs a de-coke, l'd a racing for 4yrs sold it last year but got it de-coke just before and engine ran as new.
