  • DS3 Racing - options list

Hi all, looking to buy a DS3 Racing and the owner hasn't put much in the advert about the options/spec. Does anyone have an options list so I can ask him what's on the car and what isn't etc?

    Thanks

    Bradley

    Hi there

The Racing was pretty much all the kit you could get - some had the Sat Nav option and others had the orange and black 1990's esque pixel display.

    BUT

Before you check out what it comes with, I'd be checking for service history and if the car has had any engine repairs done.

Have you had a look through the register on here? Might be a DS3Club member

      Welcome to the Club

Not sure I'd buy a Racing as a private sale, unless you know a good mechanic.

You would have more protection buying from a dealer if anything goes amiss, or maybe try get warranty extension or some form of repair insurance

great car when all is good

I don't have anything to add to this post other than what Chris suggested. Sage advice.

Thanks guys. So the sat-nav was the thing I was curious about but also things like stereo upgrade and parking sensors. Were these standard equipment on the Racing?

Regarding it being a private sale, it has just under 40k on it and full main dealer history... Is there really a big problem with reliability? I assume there are some common problems of things to look out for?

          Cheers

Stereo - not sure (standard one is pretty good though!)
            Rear parking sensors - yes
Front parking sensors - don't think so

Reliability - engines had a tendency to blow up, several have had complete engine replacements

I can't find a brochure online (might have one at home though)

              http://downloads.clickedit.co.uk/129...ure%201203.pdf
On top of the DSport model
30mm wider tracks front and rear and
15mm lower than the standard DS3
              New 18in wheels.
The front brake discs have grown to 323mm in diameter (up by 40mm) and are now clamped by four-piston Brembo calipers.

I think the options would have been if it had the MyWay kit added (as standard the DSport came with Connect Signature – Connecting Box (Bluetooth® system with USB socket)and Hi-Fi system.

Sat Nav = My way added (will lose USB stick port and will have just an AUX in (near the gear stick))
No Screen = Standard kit (this does include the Hifi upgrade though as std in the Dsport

It's been out for 5 years now so a bit rusty as to what the options where!

A few people may have added a sticker set (side, bonnet & Roof)

The Racing reliability question is our 'how long is a piece of string' And we always say that people will jump on a forum for help and support, so we are likely to hear a LOT more about faults.

The Racing is essentially a beefed up 150THP, so there is some research to be done around that engine and there is a lot of information on here about engines and potential faults.

Does the Racings have faults - Yes. Do I know of fault free Racings - Yes (though not without minor blips)

              Lots of possibilities!

30-40k for the problematic Racing's appears to be around the mileage they've gone at (although I've heard of one or two doing under 20k).

Common problem's aren't really ones that you can pick up with a visual inspection. Plenty of posts about issues users have encountered with theirs:

Shattered pistons is worse case.... new engine needed
Other issues could be timing chain/tensioner, HPFP, injector/fuel issues, etc etc

Consider putting in some Mahle pistons for £1500, and con rods
